How to Produce Palm Oil?
Palm oil is one of the three major edible oils in the world, and it ranks first in production and trade volume. So how is palm oil produced?
Palm fruit receiving and storage section
The ripe fresh fruit bunches collected from the orchard are transported by truck, and after being weighed and recorded by the ground scale, the fruit bunches are poured into the unloading platform. The unloading platform has a material discharge channel.
Sterilization section
Sterilization is to steam the palm fruit at high temperature for about 60 minutes in the palm fruit sterilizer to destroy the lipase in the pulp to prevent the free fatty acid content in the oil from increasing. In addition, high-temperature sterilization can make the fruit soft, which is convenient for mechanical threshing, and is also conducive to the subsequent shelling of the fruit core and reducing the damage of the kernel. Sterilization mainly includes horizontal sterilization and vertical sterilization.
Threshing section
The fruit of oil palm accounts for about 60% of the entire fruit bunch. The purpose of threshing is to separate the oil palm fruit from the fruit bunch. The commonly used mechanical threshing machine is the stock thresher.
Crushing and pressing section
The purpose of crushing and cooking is to tear the fruit skin, separate the pulp from the shell and crush the pulp tissue, while heating to soften the pulp and destroy the pulp cell structure. The best cooking conditions are 90-100℃ and the time is about 20 minutes. The pounded palm fruit enters the continuous screw palm oil press for pressing. After pressing, the oil palm fruit is divided into two parts: a mixture of oil, water, and solid impurities flows into the oil purification section through the crude oil tank; the pressed cake enters the fiber recovery section through the cake crushing auger.
Crude oil purification or oil clarification section
The machine-pressed crude oil is washed and diluted with water, and then settled and filtered to remove the fiber material from the oil, and then continuously settled to separate into two parts: oil and sediment. After the oil sediment is filtered and the dirty oil is separated, the oil is secondary settled, and the dirty oil mixture is clarified and separated. The skimmed oil is then secondary settled. The sewage is pumped into the sewage treatment tank for treatment.
Kernel recovery section
The separated palm kernels are polished, dried, and then recycled and stored for pressing or direct sale.
