How is Palm Oil Made?
Palm oil is a vegetable oil extracted from palm fruit. Palm oil is the second largest edible vegetable oil in the world, second only to soybean oil. How is palm oil made? In short, they are extracted from palm fruit. A brief introduction to how palm oil is made is as follows:
Several steps to make palm oil:
1) Collect fresh and ripe palm fruit bunches from the orchard (approximately 15 latitudes close to the earth’s equator from north to south are rich in palm fruit). Then, the fresh palm fruit is sealed and sterilized in the sterilization tank and directly injected with steam for 60 minutes. The purpose is to prevent enzyme decomposition and avoid further increase in the free fatty acid content of the oil.
2) After sterilization, the palm fruit is separated from the palm fruit bunch, and the palm fruit is the main product we are processing. The purpose of pounding is to separate the pulp and crush the palm pulp. At the same time, steam is used to cook the palm fruit and break the cells of the pulp.
3) After the palm fruit is pounded, it is conveyed to the palm oil press. Then we get the crude oil. Because crude palm oil contains a lot of colloids, free fatty acids, and natural pigments, palm oil should be clarified before consumption.
4) The palm oil refining process is divided into 4 steps: degumming, deacidification, decolorization, deodorization and cooling filtration. After refining, palm oil can be sold directly, or packaged and distributed to the domestic market.
